It was very important to Mountain View County council to fill the important role of Division 4 councillor.

That is according to Reeve Angela Aalbers, who notes they were thrilled to have two candidates run in this month’s by-election. She says “we still think this is an excellent opportunity for someone to come on board and add value for the next year, prior to the election. I’m very pleased and I think our council is very pleased with the process on how it was communicated. Obviously, we were able to have a candidates forum which was very informative. I think the turnout of 349 people was, obviously we always hope for more but I think it was a good representation of Division 4.”

The results of the Division 4 by-election became official on Sunday and Tiffany Nixon from Bergen has been elected as councillor.
Nixon finished with 191 votes which was 33 more than Sean LaBrie – who lives in the Didsbury area over by Westerdale. LaBrie wound up with 158 votes.
Advanced polling stations for the by-election were held on October 9 and 10th. The by-election voting day was October 16th. The Melvin Hall and the Bergen Hall were the sites where voters were able to cast their ballots.
According to Mountain View County, this By-Election was necessitated by the resignation of former Councillor Gord Krebs this summer, and the new councillor will serve until the next municipal election which is slated for October 2025.
