Mountain View Nordic Ski Club has been hard at work making preparations over the past weeks and are now ready to celebrate the start of the cross country ski season.
Trails in the Town of Olds and at the Trail Creek site are ready for skiers.
The club is marking the start of the season by launching the “Ski Friends” group once again, with the first meet set for Thursday morning at 10AM at the Trail Creek Parking lot.
The group is an opportunity for cross country skiers to get out onto the trails in a group setting and enjoy all the west country has to offer. “Ski Friends” meet every Thursday and Saturday morning at 10AM, it is free to join for members of the Ski Club while non members trail fees are $5.
Memberships to the club are open to all an available through the club’s website.Â
The club was also able to put their new snowmobile to work over this past weekend, they thank the numerous community partners who made contributions to the fundraising campaign for it.
Current trail conditions are regularly updated through social media, follow Mountain View Nordic Ski Club to get the latest reports.
Trails in town and at Trail Creek are groomed, snow cover is good for early season with grass sticking through in spots, track-setting can be expected after the next snowfall.
The club is also advising of moose in the Trail Creek area, reminding Nordic lovers to be on the lookout when enjoying the trails.
