The Red Deer RCMP Downtown Patrol Unit has made an arrest after a vehicle displaying a stolen license plate was observed in the area of Gaetz Avenue and 50th street on November 15th.
Upon investigating, officers identified a passenger in the vehicle who had outstanding warrants.
The individual was placed under arrest but attempted to flee during the process.
Officers quickly apprehended the suspect moments later and during a subsequent search of the individual an improvised loaded handgun and a knife were discovered on his person.
As a result, a 55 year old resident of Stettler now faces multiple charges including 2 counts of weapon possession contrary to an order and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon.
His last court appearance was November 20th at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
