Colts win twice on home ice to tighten up Northern Division standings

The Mountain View Colts had a big weekend as they collected 4 points on home ice.
On Friday, the Colts had a four goal outburst in the second period en route to a 7 to nothing victory over the Ponoka Stampeders.
18 year old rookie forward Ryder Hammer from Olds had 2 goals and an assist in the win for Mountain View, while 19 year old forward Rhett Miller from Olds had a goal and 2 assists against the Stampeders.
21 year old netminder Jordan McGinnis from Airdrie earned his first win of the season for the Colts and his first shutout of the season by making 18 saves versus Ponoka.
On Saturday at the Didsbury Memorial Complex, the Colts would win again as they got past Airdrie 3-2.
A shorthanded goal in the third period by 19 year old forward Corbin Rae from Innisfail broke a 2-all tie and stood up as the game winner for the Colts.
By posting a pair of wins over the weekend, the Colts have improved their record to 9-10-1. They sit in 4th place in the Heritage Junior Hockey League’s Northern Division but they are just 1 point back of the third place Airdrie Thunder, and 2 points behind the second place Red Deer Vipers.
Mountain View will host Red Deer on Friday, December 6th. The Colts will be at home again on Saturday, December 7th when they host Sylvan Lake. 96.5 CKFM will have live coverage of Saturday’s night’s game at 8 o’clock.
