Under the microscope: Olds College, RDP Among Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges

The annual list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges includes a couple that are located just off the QE2 Highway.

According to Research Infosource Inc., Olds College of Agriculture & Technology is in the top 15 at number 14 overall.

In a media release, Todd Ormann – Vice President Development & Research at Olds College – says “we believe our applied research continues to strengthen the agriculture and ag tech industries in Canada.”

Main research areas of focus for Olds College are listed as smart agriculture technology and practices, livestock production, plus crops and environmental stewardship.

Meantime, Red Deer Polytechnic comes in at number 43 overall as part of Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges.

In a press release from RDP, Dr. Tonya Wolfe – Associate Vice President, Applied Research at Red Deer Polytechnic – states “we are proud to be recognized across Canada for our growing multi-disciplinary and collaborative applied research.”

Four research areas of focus are being highlighted for Red Deer Polytechnic including manufacturing and advanced manufacturing, energy innovation, health care and health technology, plus social innovation.
