Former Town Fire Hall Project Results In New Home For Trio Of Community Organizations

The former town fire hall in Olds will be transforming into a home for three important local organizations.
According to a press release, Olds council instructed administration during this week’s council meeting to negotiate with the Mountain View Food Bank, the Olds & District Hospice Society, and the Community Lending Shelf to lease the former fire hall. The building is located at 4829 50th Street.
Town of Olds Chief Administrative Officer Brent Williams called the project a win-win-win for the Town as an organization, for those three community groups, and for the community in general. He adds, through just relationships and conversations they learned of the need that several groups had in town.
Williams notes that the Mountain View Food Bank is the primary occupant which will take up the most space, the Olds & District Hospice Society will move its bereavement administrative function there, and the Community Lending Shelf – which runs programs such as Dress For Success and Coats For Everyone – will operate on the upper floor of the building.
Williams says there are various renovation needs for each of the three groups but he hopes by the end of December – the end of this calendar year – all of them will have occupancy at the former town fire hall.
