Community Christmas dinner in Bowden on December 24

A free community Christmas dinner is on the menu next week in Bowden.
Edie Sale with the event says it has been very successful. She notes the first year they had 37 people enjoyed the free dinner and then last year over 130 members of the community showed up.
Sale explains how the idea came about. She says “my husband and I always did Christmas dinner at the Salvation Army. We started in Bermuda when we lived there and then we continued in Red Deer. We moved to Bowden in 2019 to be closer to grand children and then COVID hit so there was no Salvation Army dinners and so we decided when that was over we would do one in our local community here.”
She adds, they have collected donations to cover it so there is no cost at all for anyone to attend. Sale says “oh it just warms my heart. You know, there’s a lot of seniors especially that are so lonely and probably don’t get a Christmas dinner. Families are busy or maybe their family lives in another province. So it’s wonderful to see them gathering and having a nice warm Christmas dinner.”
Join them for the free community Christmas Dinner on Christmas Eve – next Tuesday, December 24th – from noon until 2pm at the Bowden Event/Friendship Centre.
