The annual family Christmas potluck is coming up this weekend at the James River Community Hall.
Jessica Klis, President of the James River Hall, points out that it will get underway at 4pm on Saturday with some Christmas carols. She says “the potluck starts at 5. So everyone just brings their favourite dish to share. We’re going to come together as a community to eat together, then there is going to be a special guest that is going to arrive at 6 o’clock for the young ones and then we are going to play bingo afterwards.”
Klis notes that it will be a really nice family friendly community affair where everyone can catch up and have some Christmas spirit together.
She points out that 2024 at the James River Hall included their spring fling, the old fashion family fun days, and more. Klis says “it just makes my heart so happy. I grew up in the community and my family has been here for a really long time. I grew up going to like the fashion shows at the old hall before the flood. It’s just so special to me to have community members come together and visit and be able to use the hall and have that old fashioned community spirit that you don’t always see any more. It’s really, really great to see. I just love it. It makes me so happy.”
Klis adds, the kitchen expansion project was also part of 2024 for the James River Hall and it is just about wrapped up.
She says their annual general meeting will be in March and they are always looking for new members. They also meet monthly on the third Monday of every month.
