As heard on 96.5 The Ranch, Cooper Moore from Red Deer propelled the Lloydminster Bobcats past the Grizzlys on Friday night in Olds.
The 18 year old rookie forward had three assists plus what stood up to be the game winning goal on a second period power play that put the Bobcats (21-14-1-3) ahead for good. His 13th tally of the season made it 3-2 and Lloydminster would go on to win 5-.2 Moore (2006) has been a big reason why the Bobcats are 2-0 versus Olds this season. He had 4 assists in an 8-5 triumph over the Grizzlys in Lloydminster back in December. Moore is second in the AJHL among rookies with 42 points and he is the top point getter for the ‘Cats. He has posted 3 or more points 8 of his 34 games during the 2024-2025 campaign.
The Bobcats went 2 for 5 on the power play, plus they added a shorthanded empty net goal in the third period to ice the victory. Olds went oh for 6 with the man advantage.
Lucas Schaefer (2006) from Virgina and Johnny Maruna (2005) from Ohio had the goals for the Grizzlys (14-26-1-0). Estaban Labelle (2006) from Quebec had assists on both goals.
The Black & Gold head out on the road on Saturday, February 1st to play the Calgary Canucks at the Siksika Deerfoot Sportsplex at 6pm. With 13 games remaining in the regular season, the Grizzlys are 17 points back of the South Division’s fourth and final playoff spot.

Woywitka is from Vermilion and after four seasons with the Western Hockey League’s Red Deer Rebels he went on to play 278 National Hockey League games over seven seasons with the St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, and the New York Rangers. Woywitka was a first round selection (27th overall) of the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
