A chance to check out some live music and support the Men’s Shed of Olds is coming up this month.
President Morley Kjargaard says the son of one of their members is a professional musician so they will be welcoming Dane Von Hagen along with Kenzie DuBois to the Elks Hall for a fundraising concert on Saturday, February 8th.
Tickets to the fundraising concert on February 8th at the Elks Hall cost $25 dollars each, according to Kjargaard. He says “we don’t charge a membership to belong to Men’s Shed and we do have expenses of buying material, wood for some of our projects. So it will go directly into operations and mostly just buying supplies and wood for the various projects we have on the go.”
Limited seating is available. Contact one of the Men’s Shed of Olds member to get tickets – Morley can be reached at 403-507-5238.
He points out that the Men’s Shed is an international movement and in Olds they have about 35 members. Kjargaard says “it is all about giving back to the community and improving men’s mental health that’s the bottom line is when guys retire we get a little, you know, isolated. Isolation is never good for your mental health so its just an opportunity or an excuse to get guys out of the house, socializing and building or taking on different projects for the community.” He adds, they filed their incorporation papers and received them back about a week ago so they are non-profit society.
