Experienced victim services navigators helping CARVSS transition to province’s regional model

An update on Alberta’s new Regional Victim Services model will be one of the topics for the Innisfail RCMP’s upcoming Town Hall meeting.

It is slated for Wednesday, February 19th at 6pm at the Innisfail Library.

Lauren Reid, Acting CEO for the Central Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (CARVSS), points out that their local navigator who works in the Innisfail RCMP Detachment as well as Brittany Sande – Assistant Director of Operations for CARVSS – will be in attendance at the Town Hall meeting. She says “they will be there supporting the detachment as they go through their year and revue and upcoming. They’ll be available to answer any questions about the victim services – the new model or our services that we are currently providing.”

Reid adds, they officially began operations in 20 detachments in the central Alberta region back on October 1st. She says “so we are just coming out of our first quarter. It’s been really great. We’ve have the support of the RCMP and the local communities. A good chunk of our local navigators in the detachments were actually from the old model as well so they are experienced victim services navigators who know their communities pretty well. So it was a really great transition for us.”

To make sure that we were being able to provide excellent victim services across the board. It also helps with advocacy on a larger level and supporting the front line workers and making sure they are working under an organization that has proper supports and leadership, but a lot of it was just to make sure really make sure that the victims of crime in Alberta are served in a really great way. We can say that now across the province. So, we are pretty excited about that.”
