The Mountain View Mavericks played just 1 game this past weekend in the Rocky Mountain Junior B Tier 1 Lacrosse League, but it was a big one.
Mountain View hosted the Central Division leading Rockyview Silvertips to the Innisfail Twin Arena on Sunday afternoon, for the 3rd and final regular season matchup between the Tip’s and Mavs.
The Silvertips had won both previous contests, including a 7-1 victory over Mountain View in the Mavericks home opener and a 6-5 win in Calgary on June 1st.
The Silvertips were 11-1 heading into Sunday’s action.
The Mavericks found themselves down 4-2 at the first intermission on Sunday, before scoring 5 unanswered goals in the 2nd period to take the lead thanks in large part to Luke Hildebrandt.
The Mav’s transition wizard scored 5 goals and added 1 assist on Sunday afternoon, while his brother Ethan, Riley Benko, Jace Dolinski and Hayden Sutherland all had goals as well.
The win boosts the Mavericks record to 6-4-1 and bumps them to 2nd place in the Central Division, and 1 point up on their rivals, the Red Deer Rampage.
The Mavericks are back at it on Saturday night when they host the Winnipeg Blizzard at the Innisfail Twin Arena, before traveling to ÂÂBeaumont to take on the Junior Outlaws.
