Repeat Offender Arrested And Charged By Innisfail RCMP

A repeat offender faces charges after being arrested by Innisfail RCMP.

Mounties say they were conducting surveillance on a known drug trafficker and repeat offender on Tuesday (June 25th).

Despite being known to police as a suspended driver, RCMP note that the suspect was observed driving a vehicle.

He was arrested and a search of the vehicle found $3,000 dollars in cash, along with suspected drugs including methamphetamine, oxycodone, cocaine, and psilocybin.

According to Innisfail RCMP, the suspect was also believed to be driving the vehicle while impaired and subsequently failed a drug recognition expert impaired examination.

A seach warrant was obtained by police for the hotel where he was staying and it resulted in the seizure of a 12 guage shotgun, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, and other items associated with drug trafficking. Mounties point out the fact that the suspect has a lifetime firearm prohibition.

A 42 year old Innisfail man, David Samuel Reid, faces charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking for various drugs along with other offenses including possession of a firearm while prohibited.

He was released by a Justice of the Peace and is slated to appear in court in Red Deer on July 11th.
