The Didsbury Lions Club is firing up the barbeques this weekend.
The Lions are hosting the Kansas City Barbeque Society Master Showdown July 27th and 28th, a competition between 28 teams to see who’s got the best flavor in town.
The public is welcome to come by the Didsbury Ag Society Grounds and enjoy some of the cooking on Saturday afternoon between 10AM and 4PM.
Danielle Rasheer Hamlin is a volunteer with the Didsbury Lions Club, she says this is the 4th year they’ve hosted this competition.
“The Didsbury Lions Club has been doing this for 4 year, but this is the first year were opening up to the public. It’s a fundraiser, we’re going to raise some funds for the Didsbury Ag Society.”
Hamilin adds that there are 28 teams signed up so far, including 3 local teams and 4 kids teams.
In conjunction with the barbeque competition, the Crooked Horn Junior Rodeo Association will be putting together a rodeo for folks on the grounds, starting at 11.
There is no cost for admission on Saturday.
The 50/50 tickets sold on the grounds will go to support the Didsbury Ag Society, while raffle tickets are available to win a gazebo lovingly built by Lions members.
