Rain overnight Thursday helped, but not nearly enough.
This from Parks Canada as fire crews continue battling an out-of-control wildfire that ripped through the Jasper townsite.
Parks officials say while they know those impacted are waiting patiently for an update on damages, they can’t give specifics about the extent of the damage before having time to properly access, and assess all areas.
Premier Danielle Smith says the provincial government will do everything in their power to flood resources into the area.
Smith was fighting back tears during a press conference on July 25th as she let evacuees know that all of Alberta is here for them. She says “to be a Jasperite right now, we share the sense of loss with all of those who live in the town, who care for it, and who have helped build it.”
Approximately 25,000 people were evacuated from Jasper National Park and the townsite before the fire reached the municipal boundary.
