The 2024 edition of AgSmart was held earlier this week and among the organizations on hand for it was the Agricultural Manufacturers of Canada.
It is a national organization with global impact and a member-driven industry association representing over 275 agricultural equipment manufacturers and the many companies that support them.
Shannon Erickson with A-M-C was at their Careers in Ag Mobile Skills Lab.
Their goal is to help incentivize careers in agriculture, helping people be aware of the many different opportunities and jobs in all aspects, according to Erickson. She says “from manufacturing to many services and administrative options, quality research. There are so many different opportunities in the agricultural industry. This mobile skills lab it really highlights many of the technologies and different opportunities for careers from welding, engineering, CNC machining, and more.”
Erickson notes that anytime is a good time to get started in a career in agriculture.
Erickson encourages anyone who is interested to go online to CareersInAg.ca. She says “we have a list of jobs that are available across Canada and into the U.S. and you can see right now we have 138 jobs. We are constantly updating our list. We have more information there and we are also on social with Instagram, and Tik Tok.”
The fifth anniversary edition of AgSmart – a two-day educational expo focused on data and technology across the agriculture sector – was held on Tuesday, July 30th and Wednesday, July 31st on the south portion of the Olds College campus.
