Innisfail RCMP apprehended a repeat property crime offender this week.
Police say the offender is known to be a criminally suspended driver. He is also known to be on a conditional sentence order where he was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle, and he is known to be involved in the theft of copper wire from industrial/commercial/oilfield sites.
Surveillance conducted on the repeat offender on August 6th spotted him driving a truck with a flat deck trailer near his residence. According to Innisfail RCMP, he was arrested without incident and a search of the truck and trailer resulted in the seizure of over 1,500 pounds of stripped copper wire, dozens of break and enter tools, untaxed illegal cigarettes, a stolen licence plate, along with bear spray and matches, plus numerous other tools which are believed to be stolen.
A 39-year-old resident of Innisfail – Peter George Walker – faces charges including two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Mounties wish to locate the owners of the tools. If you are able to identify the markings and the type of tool that they are on, please contact the Innisfail RCMP Detachment at 403-227-3342.
In an effort to reduce property crime, Innisfail RCMP say they operate a habitual offender management program to track and monitor high risk repeat offenders.
