The annual charity hockey game for the Mountain View Colts is coming up this weekend.
Fran Murphy, Chair of the Charity Game for the Rural Alberta Motorcycle Ride For Dad and Lifetime Member of the Mountain View Colts Sports & Recreation Association, says when they started the Colts in 2005, they had stipulated one game for charity.
Murphy adds, the total amount raised through the annual charity hockey game is a tribute to their players.
One year, she says they were able to raise over $40,000 dollars through the one game.
Murphy says she was talking to a young Colts player this week, and they have set a pretty big goal for this year’s charity game.
The charity game is this Saturday at 8pm in Didsbury when the Heritage Junior Hockey League presents the Mountain View Colts hosting the Airdrie Techmation Thunder, according to Murphy.
There will be pledge-a-player and on-site silent auction opportunities to help the Colts raise funds to support research and awareness for prostate cancer. Visit MountainViewColts.ca or the Colts Facebook page for more details.
Last season’s charity game resulted in over $23,000 dollars being raised for the Rural Alberta Motorcycle Ride For Dad.
