National Canadian Film Day
April 16 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Wednesday, April 16th from 1 to 3 pm
There’s a twist with April’s Coffee & Conversation as this month, we celebrate National Canadian Film Day with about 2,000 other communities across Canada! We are hosting a movie matinee with the 2013 comedy, “The Grand Seduction”, complete with popcorn and bevvies! This film tells the tale of a small fishing village in Newfoundland that must secure a new doctor in order to keep the community alive. It stars Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights and The Covenant), Brendan Gleeson (Braveheart, Gangs of New York), and Gordon Pinsent (Away from Her, Republic of Doyle). The townspeople go to hilarious lengths to fabricate all the amenities of a big city and make it seem as though their sleepy town has everything the good doctor could possibly want.
National Canadian Film Day, is a massive one-day, coast-to-coast-to-coast celebration of Canadian cinema, and Didsbury has always enjoyed being part of the fun!
And remember, Didsbury is one of the film industry’s location of choice, with movies like “Fargo”, “Land”, “Let Him Go”, “Guilty Party”, “Under the Banner of Heaven”, “The Order” and, of course, “Wynonna Earp” all being filmed in our fair town.v
